Now here’s something that should tickle my co-writers’s fancy. <noindex>ARGN</noindex> recently brought to my attention a new, Toronto-based ARG. TorGame is presenting a new ARG type experience that will take place for two weeks in September called “Waking City”.

The <noindex>official website</noindex> gives this description:

“…We combine the story-driven mystery of alternate reality games, the frenetic intensity of puzzle hunts, and the passion for public spaces of urban gaming. We love this city, and we want to celebrate it with you in a fresh and fun way. This is a game that will get you out exploring, seeing parts of Toronto you’ve never seen before, and making you see even your own neighbourhood in a new light.”

There are a couple differences to Waking City from regular ARGs. First of all, it is required that participants live in, or near Toronto. Second, players are required to group themselves into teams of 5-10 people prior to the games beginning. Third, teams are required (I’m liking that word today) to pay a fee ranging from $100-$125 in order to pay for the production costs.

Should be an exciting event. I know a certain <noindex>online newspaper</noindex> that should write an article about it in order to grab more Toronto-ists (or is it Toronto-ites?) attention. Now get some friends together and create a team!

That’s right folks, <noindex> The Lost Experience </noindex> is starting today in North America. It seems that the first website in what looks like a promising ARG is up: <noindex>The Hanso Foundation</noindex>. This is one of the companies linked to the Dharma Initiative from Lost.

The first clue will go out today in the form of a TV advertisment during the show (which is available on the site). Other notable finds have included phone voice mail systems, a <noindex>Widmore Labs</noindex> website, and the release of a new <noindex>book</noindex> by a passenger on the doomed Flight 815.

Things are getting interesting!

That’s right folks. An official Lost <noindex>ARG</noindex> is coming soon. To quote from the <noindex> article:</noindex>

ABC, Channel 4 Television in the U.K, and Australia Channel 7 will launch the “Lost Experience,” a revolutionary interactive experience based on the international hit television series, “Lost”. Working together, more than 30 broadcasters from Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East will release clues with new information regarding the mystery and mythology of the island featured in the series. Fans looking to solve the puzzle will find audio, video, and text clues in locations around the world, along with an online community in which to connect and collaborate with others. Just like any other good mystery, clues can and will happen anywhere at anytime across multiple platforms.
