Some people are unable to appreciate Michelle Rodriguez‘ acting range. She is a gifted performer who can play a variety of roles. To greater appreciate Michelle, I’ve included some pictures for discussion.

First, a picture from her breakthrough role in Girlfight, playing a girl who is “seething with anger” and trains to become a boxer.

Notice here that she started off by just playing her pouting straight. She doesn’t want to needlessly complicate things.

Obviously her acting range has only grown since then. For instance, in Blue Crush, she mastered the art of pursing her lips, thereby mixing anger with frustration. Maybe she was angry at the directory for not getting enough face time, or frustrated at the script for not giver her any lines. But wait, “Rodriguez even smiled once or twice“!

Finally, a sample of her most recent work, as she appeared in a recent episode of Lost, where she plays an angry cop. Note that she has now managed to curl her lips upwards, melding anger with disgust, hitting a pouting triple.

She even shot Shannon, so she’ll have a whole range of anger to demonstrate on this show.

My apologies to those of you wanting to see pictures from Resident Evil (where she plays an angry elite solider), S.W.A.T. (where she plays an angry elite cop), The Fast and The Furious and BloodRayne. I’m betting she added a whole second dimension to her characters in these movies. Sadly, I do not have photos to back up this theory, and it will have to remain untested, for now.
