While Apple in particular seems to do a very good job at packing their products, there is some excellent debate on the problems with consumer technology packaging in general on the Channel 9 Forums, with a wide body of various supporting evidence. It seems that Microsoft may have rumor created this video for an internal marketing meeting for their designers. Perhaps they are still trying to get their products down to 6 buttons.
